TEMPO serves as a premier catalyst for the selective oxidation of primary alcohols to aldehydes and secondary alcohols to ketones, commonly in pharmaceutical, fine chemical, and agrochemical synthesis. It enables efficient aerobic oxidations (e.g., Cu/TEMPO systems), nitroxide-mediated polymerization (NMP) for controlled polymers, and acts as a radical scavenger/probe in ESR spectroscopy. Widely applied in API production, natural product derivatives, flavors/fragrances, and advanced materials.
